Planning: Define the leading question of your project!
In this phase the group of learners develop their project. Teachers and pupils should do this work together to gain experience and competence in planning. The students especially should, after their contact with the river, develop a meaningful guiding question for their river project (see didactical guidelines - The guiding question). The question forms the basis upon which a project plan is developed. The plan describes the aims of the project (at both educational and environmental-political levels), the steps to reach these aims, and the means necessary (materials, methods) to do so.
The FyR platform may aid in finding partner groups (Book of the River > Interactive map or School list). For the initiation of cooperations, web methods can be helpful that enable
- mutual getting to know, in order to build up relations and not only to focus on the contents (cf. virtual partner interview, network game)
- development of ideas (cf. virtual brainstorming)
- discussion of concrete plans (cf. fore-chat, forum with moderation)
- decision making (cf. voting).
