11 of coolest gadgets from CES 2024 we’ve seen so far
  • CES 2024 has officially started today in Las Vegas.
  • Manufacturers from around the world are showcasing their latest gadgets and gizmos.
  • But which, if any, are catching people’s eye?

It’s that time of year again as the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 kicks off. Showcasing some of the hottest new pieces of technology from various manufacturers worldwide, many tech addicts flock to Las Vegas to see the latest offerings.

But like any event of this size, some products stand out from the crowd. Let’s look at some of the best we’ve seen at CES 2024.

1. Start brewing at home with the ExoBrew home beer brewer
11 of coolest gadgets from CES 2024 we’ve seen so far

CES 2024 Exobrew homebrewing kit.

One of the coolest gadgets debuted at CES 2024 is the ExoBrew home beer brewer system. Looking a little like a filter coffee machine, this compact and, frankly, sophisticated-looking brewing machine could be the best purchase you make if you like a bit of home beer brewing.

The keg is at the heart of the system, which handles the heating, cooling, fermentation, and ultimate serving of your brewed beer. In operation, hot water is pumped and circulated through the grains at the top (like the ground coffee in a filter coffee machine) to make the mash. When it’s time to boil, water is redirected to prevent over-extraction. A rotating dispenser above the grain hopper adds hops (in muslin bags).

After heating the ingredients, the Exobrew cools them down so the yeast can be added before fermenting. This entire process can be completed in about four hours without human intervention, as the Exobrew is controlled through an app that downloads recipes from the cloud. While the device is primarily geared towards inexperienced home brewers, it also allows users to customize their recipes or use those submitted by other users.

Targus states that it is an eco-friendly, patent-pending mouse made with recycled plastic and packaging. Additionally, it uses Bluetooth low energy technology to reduce power consumption, making it a good option for the environmentally conscious.

This mouse is designed to work with multiple devices and offers gaming-level performance with up to 4000 DPI. It also features built-in infrared optical tracking BlueTrace technology, ensuring accurate control across various surfaces. Additionally, the mouse has DefenseGuard Antimicrobial Protection, which prevents the growth of microorganisms on the surface.

4. Mui Board Gen 2 Matter controller looks like a piece of wood

Mui smart wood board.

First unveiled at CES 2023 and another 2024 CES Innovation Award Honoree, the Mui Board Gen 2 is a smart home device made of natural wood and offers Matter connectivity.

The Mui Board 2 appears to be a simple wooden trimming or shelf, but it is a touch-controlled smart home hub. By tapping on it, you can control various smart home products compatible with Matter, including those with HomeKit.

The display shows various data, including weather, time, and information from other sensors such as thermostats. Additionally, a timer for dimming lights can be set from the controller. Pricing and availability will be disclosed when the Kickstarter campaign launches.

5. Upgrade your home healthcare with Withings’ BeamO “smart” thermometer

CES 2024 BeamO.

Another CES 2024 honoree, digital health company Withings, introduced the BeamO “multiscope,” a device that can conduct four health checks in under a minute. The BeamO combines the features of a thermometer, electrocardiogram, oximeter, and stethoscope in a single, at-home device.

This means the multiscope can do more than a fitness watch and outperform other single-purpose devices. The goal is to enable people to perform more tests at home and communicate with doctors via remote calls to improve the efficiency of telemedicine.

According to Withings, the temperature is usually the only health check people perform regularly at home. However, the company hopes that their new product, BeamO, will become the thermometer of the future, providing information about heart and lung health and temperature, and be used in every household.

Ballie is a smart home companion that, Samsung claims, can welcome users with weather updates and daily schedules while managing household tasks. Ballie can also connect to and manage home appliances, making it a helpful assistant in many situations.

It also looks pretty cool.

8. Xreal Air 2 Ultra AR Glasses are something else

CES-2024 XREAL smart glasses.

At CES 2024, Xreal showcased its latest AR glasses called the Xreal Air 2 Ultra AR glasses, which are priced at $699. These glasses aim to merge the features of a VR headset with the convenience of AR glasses. Essentially, the Xreal Air 2 Ultra AR glasses are designed to be portable while offering the functionality of a VR headset.

It features two 3D cameras on each side of the frames, offering positional tracking with six degrees of freedom. This allows you to map your environment and track your hands for interacting with virtual objects. Furthermore, each eye has a 1080p resolution, and the specs have a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of brightness, and an improved 54-degree field of view. This is packed into just 2.82 ounces (80 grams) of weight.

After detecting a stain on a hard floor, the cleaning device will return to its dock to heat the mop pads with high-temperature steam and water. Once the pads are heated, the spinning mops will return and scrub off whatever is tarnishing the floor.

When the AI detects a carpet or a plush rug, it will decide whether to lift the mop pads or detach them completely at the cleaning station to prevent cross-contamination. This is a unique and useful feature that is not yet commonly found on robot vacuums with mop attachments.

11. Shokz waterproof, bone-conduction headphones will change swimming forever

CES 2024 OpenSwim Pro headphones.

And finally, one of the other great gadgets from this year’s CES is Shokz’s latest iteration of its innovative bone-conducting headphones. Called OpenSwim Pro, the open-ear headphones let you listen to music while leaving you still able to maximize your situational awareness.

Bluetooth and MP3 enabled, the headphones feature a flexible frame of Nickel-Titanium alloy, a soft silicone material, and a “biofit” design that doesn’t hinder other swimwear like goggles or a swimming cap. They are also watertight up to a depth of  6.6 feet (2 meters) of water for two hours without damage.

And that’s your lot for today.

These are just some of the amazing products at this year’s CES, so keep an eye out for more of our “top” selections of other products that catch our eye.
