iOS 26 release date now official

It’s official: iOS 26 will launch September 15.
While the focus may be on all the new devices Apple announced at its event today, the operating system that will run on those fancy new smartphones has an official release date. Apple’s iOS 26 will be ready for install on Monday, September 15.
iOS 26 will bring a massive redesign to the aesthetics of iPhones with what Apple calls “Liquid Glass.” This redesign has been fairly controversial; users that downloaded beta version of iOS 26 seem to either love or hate Liquid Glass.
The new operating system will also bring improvements to Apple Intelligence, another feature that is quite hit-or-miss. These new features include things like automated call screenings, on-device AI models, and more.
The following iPhones will support iOS 26 and can install it on September 15:
- iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max
- iPhone Air
- iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, 16e

I’ve been a computer geek my entire life. After graduating college with a degree in Mathematics, I worked in finance and banking a few years before taking a job as a database administrator. I started working with Notebookcheck in October of 2016 and have enjoyed writing news and reviews. I’ve also written for other outlets including UltrabookReview and GeeksWorldWide, focusing on consumer guidance and video gaming. My areas of interest include the business side of technology, retro gaming, Linux, and innovative gadgets. When I’m not writing on electronics or tinkering with a device, I’m either outside with my family, enjoying a decade-old video game, or playing drums or piano.
